About

Klara “Nat” Granger, LCSW

Nat started her private practice in Schenectady in 2020. She utilizes the pronouns she/her. She has worked in the mental health field since 2014, when she graduated with her MSW from Columbia University School of Social Work.

In 2019, Nat began the process of training in EMDR through the EMDR International Association, and she completed certification as a certified EMDR clinician in 2023. She began the journey of providing EMDR consultation to other therapists as a Consultant-In-Training in 2026. She has trained in several EMDR protocols including the integration of Internal Family Systems into EMDR, the Flash Technique, the Developmental Needs Meeting Strategy preparation for EMDR with dissociative clients, use of EMDR for performance enhancement, use of EMDR for treatment of blocking beliefs, and more.

Passionate about evidence-based practice, Nat has completed SIFI Certification (Fordham University, 2017-2018), Comprehensive Training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (Behavioral Tech Inc., 2016-2017), a Mini Fellowship in Aging Populations (Stanford University Medical School, 2015), specialized training in substance abuse counseling (CCMS Inc. 2013-2015), specialized training in Mental Health with Aging Populations (Boston University, 2013-2014), and she also has obtained a Guided Autobiography Instructor Certification (The Birren Center for Autobiographical Studies 2011-2012). She has formerly held a credential as a Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Use Counselor (CASAC) from 2017 to 2020.

She regularly seeks out supplemental training far above and beyond state credentialing requirements and requirements for maintaining membership in EMDRIA. She is passionate about providing high quality EMDR, and about supporting clinicians from under-represented communities in obtaining EMDR training and certification.

Nat’s past professional experience prior to private practice includes medical social work, psychiatric social work, educational and advocacy social work, and outpatient mental health treatment. Her ongoing interests include: treatment of trauma, the LGBTQIA+ community; racial and economic justice; liberation psychology; social issues of individuals with visible and invisible disabilities; music therapy; and group psychotherapy. She is committed to increasing the accessibility of quality mental health training for the next generation of clinicians. Among her many personal interests, she loves hiking, fiction, poetry, folk music and classical music.
